It's kinda sad, in a way, that there is so little innovation when it comes to operating systems.

Linux. Made in 1990's. Various distros exist.
MS-DOS. Now Win11.
FreeBSD. Now MacOS + variations.

Where is BeOS? OS/10? Solaris?

Is it that Linux is so flexible it can run on anything, that nobody bothers to create OS's anymore? There was literally courses at university devoted to creating OS's and nobody bothers. This needs to change.

I feel that one of the problems with yet another attempt at its own phone OS is that developers will need to make apps for yet another system to keep it relevant. Id love to just be able to buy like a pinephone or something but if it cant run all android apps it will be mostly useless as in my country theres very essential apps that you need to function in daily life here.

It really doesn't say anything, i mean, android itself is "linux-based", will vega use the same libraries / standards as regular desktop linux or will it be its own thing?

Amazon Linux on AWS is already garbage. No idea why they feel like being original.
