Recently saw this post from The Cyber News about a vulnerability in the Windows Snipping Tool that could potentially expose sensitive information.
From what I understand, the issue is that some residual data in screenshots might not be fully removed, meaning someone could potentially recover hidden or cropped-out information from shared images. It kind of reminds me of previous cases where metadata or leftover data in files caused similar leaks.
Personally, I don’t think this is anything entirely new, but it’s still pretty relevant. It’s not about a super advanced exploit, but more about how everyday tools are used. Since sharing screenshots is so common (tickets, debugging, reports), I can see how this could easily be overlooked.
What do you all think? Have you seen similar issues before or any practical exploitation of this?
