Bank Account Hacked

OK so asking the Hive Mind here.

Last night someone logged into my bank account at 4am when I was asleep and a couple of our phones got login notifications.

I don't use that password anywhere else yet someone got in. They appear to have been stopped by either the banks 2FA or pretty basic verification questions.

I'm pretty amazed this happened. But they didn't take any cash/ etransfers. So the possibilities are:

1) Bank screwed up and sent me a  delayed notification (like they did an software upgrade and it pushed out shit notifications)
2) the bank app on my phone had an update (similar to above)
3) one of my many computers is compromised and I'm in a Stealer log somewhere on BF

I changed the password. My partner did log in yesterday (but 9 hrs earlier) and maybe the notification was just delayed.

I'm also thinking I set up a designated laptop just for banking (I've bought used backups in bulk previously, so dedicating one isn't a big deal).

My partner suggested something I had not considered that doesn't require me being hacked.

False alarm then. Thanks all.

I lost money by using Paypal, but that's a story for another day.

Last time I lost money is when drainer scammed me

I'm still of the opinion I should have a dedicated laptop for banking (only).

Web browser. Pretty basic Debian distro with only Firefox. I wondered about a linux distro that doesn't allow reverse shells but I've found that is next to impossible (even "vi" could be used to reverse shell).

Malware and stealer logs is harder on Linux but not impossible. Just spit ballin.
