I gotta half-disagree on this one, chief.
Demon Slayer is technically fucking amazing, the animation of the special attacks is something unique, a true evolution for the "special attack" trope that has been refined for over 30 years, anime where special attacks are utterly important like Dragon Ball Z, Prince of Tennis (yes no kidding), mecha anime and so many more, somehow, miraculously, cannot compare to how breathtaking the special attacks of Demon Slayers are.
I give my highest praise to Demon Slayer. However, only in this department.
It's a one-hit wonder that is innovating nowhere, has an uninteresting and bland story that everybody has seen a million times before. There is absolutely no twist to the genre, nothing to make it truly its own thing.
I guarantee that it will have no staying power in the common memory of anime fans. In 10 years, 20 years, nobody will be recommending Demon Slayer as a classic. Animation studios will have learned from the prowess of its technical side, and we will move on to the next newer and more beautiful thing.
