I have been using sandisk flash drive, but it just died.
Is there a way i can retrieve my data from it?
Which other flash drive can you recommend?

unles you go to some expert its really hard to recover data from usb stick even with programs on the web. ive had flash drives that lasted 4-5 years and others that lasted not more than a month because of writing data back and forth. for replacement i think sandisk is still good or you can go for toshiba/samsung.
usb stick is not generally made for constantly writing data unlike sd card or ssd/hdd.

When it's not connecting anymore chances are not good.
Usually then number of error correction blocks is full.. than it will turn in read only and you cant fix anything just maybe try to backup...

Maybe try a linux filesystem to mount it.

San Disk is usually a solid choice.

Unlike other disk drives its not good idea to keep flash drives always connected because they can heat up quickly.

And as zorket mentioned, if it doesnt show up as connected device its completely dead.

Linux then dd if=/dev/<stick_device> of=/tmp/usb.img

Then check using an editor if you can retrieve / scrape data.

Check some vids on youtube about DIY recovery of flash drives, you arent the first person to run into this issue, but the chances of recovery are low
