China is ending its mandatory COVID-19 test requirement for incoming travellers from low-risk countries, according to state media reports. The new policy will take effect from September 1 and will apply to travellers from 49 countries, including Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan , Uzbekistan , Turkmenistan , Afghanistan , Pakistan , Iran , Iraq , Saudi Arabia , Oman , Yemen , UAE , Qatar , Kuwait , Bahrain , Jordan , Lebanon , Syria , Turkey , Egypt , Sudan , Ethiopia , Eritrea , Djibouti , Somalia , Kenya , Tanzania , Rwanda , Burundi and Seychelles .
Travellers from these countries will only need to present a negative nucleic acid test result taken within 48 hours before boarding and undergo a 14-day quarantine upon arrival in China. They will also need to apply for a green health code or health declaration code from the Chinese embassy or consulate in their country of departure.
