I didn't know that subject existed, I don't think it's wrong to pay them, it's a way to get them to help you with your research, in any case you could call volunteers, i think the place where they are most concentrated is in the forums, there are many people here.

Any papers you'd recommend? I haven't even heard of this field before today and I studied CS

Keep in mind that you are an ethical researcher and cannot pay people to talk to you.

There is nothing unethical paying participants. They spend their time answering your questions, time is valuable.

It is not that it is unethical to pay participants per se. The issue is it is unethical for me to pay participants if I have not gotten approval to do so. I also don't having funding to pay participants.

I am definitely trying to recruit participants here. The problem is to be able to offer participants compensation this has to be approved by the ethics board. I do not have that approval. Also I do not having funding to allow me to pay participants.

If you are interested in the topic of cyber psychology I would recommend you read "The Cyber Effect" by Dr. Aiken. It is a good introduction to the topic.

I am not sure you will have much lack with recruiting if you call people criminals
