For my point of view u should start understand the alphabet and then how the words are composed.

Makes sense to me, I was thinking about learning it like what we learn in kinder garden first, then first grade, but from what I've been told, our school system sucks dick.

Duolingo is great in teaching the alphabet. I have recommended it to friends who wanted to learn and they were happy. In the past I tried Italki for myself to learn languages. You can find a cheap tutor there.

It wold be to first of all learn the alphabed, that's perhaps THE most importaint step, second wold be to learn the basics of Russian and start speaking as much as you can. after some time you can change ur system language (On a PC or phone) to Russian. Aslo what i like to do is speak to myself in a language i'm trying to learn, helped me master english by the time i was 11
also change the language of your game or movie to russian after some time.

The alphabet is easy to learn. Learn basic words and grammar then start with reading and translating easy texts gradually increasing complexity. For right pronounciation it's essential to listen and speak. Watch videos with subtitles at first for example.
