SUGGESTION Allow shoutbox scraping/logging.

I think shout-box (sb) scraping should be allowed. this rule is not being enforced and anybody can setup a scraper without being detected, so it is clear staff dgaf.

lets take the user @n0ttcrawler for example.
1) they are ALWAYS active under the "active users" tab in the sb.
2) they never ever speak in the sb.
3) they are never under the "Who's online" section at the bottom of the main page.
4) they have a low amount of logged in time (5hours, 26 Minutes, 33 Seconds) which does not match the amount of time spent in the sb.
5) their logged in time never increases.

i have not analyzed any other users other than this one as they stick out like a sore thumb with a name like "@n0ttcrawler".
if this is not allowed i would request to be allowed to setup a scraper of my own that monitors users connected to the sb and cross checks this information with their user profile.

Sorry, but sounds a bit stupid to say "this rule is not being enforced" when over five users get banned for scraping daily. Also this is not a legal forum, every fed wants to scrape the site, so making scraping *allowed* would not result in anything good.
Thank you for ranks @ Al-Sheikh and @ 5150 !

i think those are just for scraping the main site not the shoutbox. the aforementioned user had been scraping the shoutbox for at-least a week plus .

There were 2 reasons as of why he wasn't banned instantly:
1. He had bought a $10 rank.
2. His name was "Not a Crawler" which is supposed to make people laugh at the name.

This will make SB more sus than it already is. Now that the bots are getting banned occasionaly, it creates a low sense of safety that somebody isn't mapping 100% of everything you say but instead, depending on the agency - 40%-60%. With more vigilance and mods, this can fall even more.

If scraper bots are allowed, get used to daily activity of 300 active SB users, 2 bluefags chatting and complete utter silence.

yeah no i understand that but when you are active 24/7 that is very unusual especially if you are not sending any messages. and yes the name definitely gives it away lol.

i doubt it would get that bad , maybe the admins should setup a paid scraping api ? i.e: all users over green rank have access to it.
realistically all cyber intel companies and 3 letter agencies are scrounging this forum for any driplet of intel that they can plug into their systems.
so i really think it is useless to try and prevent scraping after all this is a hacking forum and the admins do not need to be playing more useless cat and mouse games.

Well, he wasn't fully 24/7, and with the name I meant that he wants people to think "No scraper is stupid enough to say 'not a crawler' in their username!"
