At October 5, Thursday, 2023 around 11:30 a.m. the US forces shot down a armed drone that belonged to Turkish Forces.
the event took place near north east of Syria. the US armed forces claimed that the Turkish armed drone ignored several warnings of being close
to the US forces and eventually the drone was shot down.
US forces says the drone was deemed as a treat and was shot down by the help of a F-16 aircraft. After the incident happened dozens of calls happened
to Turkish military stating that US forces was on the ground in the area and that US forces would take action to protect them if the drone didnt leave.
drone shootdown comes amid long-standing tensions between the US and Turkey over the American support for the Syrian Kurdish fighters, the YPG.
Pentagon press secretary Air Force Brigaider General Pat Rider brought a speech saying that the drone was deemed as a treat and was shot down for
self-defense and said that they didnt think the Turkish Armed Drone was intentionally targetting the US forces. Furthermore Bridaiger General Pat rider said
Turkey is one of the most valued Ally in the NATO and the partnership will continue and certainly this is a regrettable incident.
