Alright lads, let's settle this once and for all. Anyone else here feels like modern anime art styles just can't hold a candle to the gritty, detailed art of the old days? I'm talking about the glorious era of Berserk, where every frame was dripping with atmosphere and raw emotion.
Today's anime feels too clean, too digital. It's like they've lost that hand-drawn charm. Remember the intense expressions and rugged landscapes in Berserk or for example Lodoss? That stuff was epic, real art that pulled you into its dark, twisted world. Now we've got this overly polished, almost artificial look everywhere. Everything is so shiny and smooth it's like watching a freaking toy commercial.
Don't get me wrong, I get why studios do it. Digital is faster and cheaper. But man, something vital is lost when you prioritize speed over aesthetic.
What do you guys think? Any modern anime come close to the old school vibe for you? Or are we stuck with this glossy, soulless look forever?
