That also has the side of spreading the song more, which kind of motivates people to do those type of trendy songs, this is especially true here in Brazil, where popular rap/trap songs are copied in their style, way of writing the lyrics, beat, and everything and they get ''Tiktokfied''. So they see what gets views and numbers and just keep on doing it, instead of actually worrying about quality. But with some artists with not-so-watched songs, like idk, say Lady Gaga, I would absolutely not give a fuck if it became a trend or something, that's just how it is sometimes.

I'm not sure you should get angry at a music becoming popular on TikTok. I'm quite fond of discovering new musics through it, here's two incredibly niche examples
https://youtu.be/VZZPcLQ4_iQ https://youtu.be/GswUBqfinAE One is from an Italian kids show from 1978. The other is from a French movie from 1969. It is unlikely that I would have discovered those without the help of Tiktok. Cheers !

yes it can ruin a song, but somehow, if they are tagged correctly it gives the artist a platform
there was an incident where a german dj (SouthStar) remixed / sampled a song (Oliver Tree - Jerk), which went viral, but Sony was not happy about it and decided that recreating the song was an option. Now there is Miss you by Oliver Tree & Robin Schulz. I think both artist got there fair share of attention, but the song was ruined for me as i saw it everywhere as background music...

I find it weird when a song I've liked for some time blows up on tiktok. Glad it's getting more popularity but I feel like a hipster for knowing it from outside of Tiktok. Lain's theme for example, Duvet.

many amazing songs have been reduced to a mere few seconds, making the rest of the lyrics seem irrelevant or unimportant.

The thing is that they become extremely mainstream. They even arruine it using nightcore and that kind of bs
