what is this "hello papa & mama" sms stuff?

got some weird sms the last weeks with "hello papa & mama i forgot my number...." etc. what is the strategy behind that. Seems pretty stupid or not? Is it just phishing... is there more behind it... maybe someone has some infos or thoughts Big Grin

They play on your emotions to get you to respond, and once you do, they try to get more information out of you . It's a basic trick

It's really low-level stuff. I mean imagine having the ability to send over X amount of bulk messages and you decide to send "hello papa & mama i broke my phone".

Give people access to bulk sms, some people will make millions - either legit or unlegit, others will text "hey mum can i get some money heres my new number".

Sounds like a phishing attempt to me! They're trying to get you to engage, maybe for identity theft. Best to ignore and block.
