I'd like to think so but that's also coming from having not spent any time looking into it myself. I guess I believe that taking the time to even consider things in that kind of detail can't be a bad thing.

I think it helps you realize your place, what is important and what to strive for in life, thus helping improve not only relations but also a sense of self fullfillment. I'd like to quote Socrates on this one: "The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing"

In the end words are just a sequence of data, any kind of improvement you might get out of it only arises out of your interpretation of it. In my opinion philosophy is just another from of art. whether it's possible to get any improvements out of it is completely up to you.

I beg to differ. Philosophic works offer just as much insight into the artist that created the work, and in my opinion even more,  as a painting or another work of art does. It might not depend on feelings and emotions like classical art does, but by not just offering insight into someone's emotions and instead offering insight into someone's rationale a far greater expression of someone's character can be achieved.

Giving insight about one's personality is something you can argue for every kind of work and even about someone's life attitude (which is of course close to philosophy). Anyway, that's exactly one of the reasons philosophy improves one, as it gives insight in one's only state of being and helps to learn from other's point of view.
