Hi everyone. Create a chat session inside AI Studio, then delete it and empty your Google Drive Trash.Once this is done, go to the Google Drive File Recovery page and start the process to recover your deleted files. In about 4–5 minutes, the chat file will return to its place, which would be fine. But here comes the crazy part.Sure, when you recover the chat, that in itself wouldn't be much of anything. But look at the buttons inside AI Studio and see what they say.The buttons talk about permanently deleted files and a 30-day window... Which are completely false, and I will explain why in a moment.You see, the .json file is just a pointer, not the prompt itself. The prompts are stored on Google's servers, in the backend.So you are recovering the .json file, not the prompt. The button is lying because it claims you deleted the prompt, which is not true—this is just the .json pointer file.So you are recovering the pointer file with the file recovery robot, which is on your Drive. This has nothing to do with the backend, right? And now comes the sick part:Since you recovered the .json, the chat reappears in the AI Studio UI and you can continue it. Exactly from where you left off!This means that Google's so-called TTL (data retention/deletion window) is not even real. I will explain it in a moment so you can all understand.You see, the deletion—meaning the TTL—should start the exact moment you press the delete button in AI Studio! If the TTL had actually started, recovering the .json file should not have brought back the chat, because the .json and the prompt are not the same thing. The .json is on your Drive, while the prompt is on Google's servers. The .json is just a pointer required for operation.Google claims that the TTL is adjustable if you open your wallet. I have attached screenshots of it here. You can set it to 7 or 14 days. But first of all, this is illegal because TTL/data deletion should not be a paid feature. For one thing, it is a fundamental human right. And if it is adjustable, Google cannot claim that their servers are slow or blame cloud synchronization, because this delay is artificially engineered. But here is the catch: there is absolutely no TTL at all. If there were, recovering the .json file would not bring the chat back!But let's assume I am wrong, and the .json file itself is the prompt—which is not the case, of course, but let's assume it is. Even then, I would still be right. Think about why I am saying this. Once the delete button is pressed and the TTL starts running, that data is locked for destruction, and in any normal system, this process cannot be interrupted or reversed.Inside the Google Issue Tracker, they labeled this as "Intended Behavior," and they even banned me for a "Code of Conduct" violation just because I dared to write this down and expose that they are scamming people. They are literally selling a non-existent TTL feature for good money, claiming that if people pay, they can configure when their chats get permanently deleted.If I delete a chat, and let's say the 7 days or 14 days pass, but the recovery robot brings back the .json from Drive on Day 23, and the chat becomes live again, then the TTL (deletion) definitely never executed. In fact, it never even started, because otherwise the file would have been locked for destruction, and the system would return an error anyway—for example, stating that no such prompt exists or something!So Google steals our data twice. First, they steal it when you press delete. The law strictly requires them to erase it; they cannot retain it permanently. Second, you pay Google your hard-earned money because you want the prompt to disappear after 7 or, say, 14 days, which is a paid feature. It's right there in the image—I uploaded it here to the post. If you don't believe it, see it with your own eyes.So they scam you twice. First, the robot brings back the chat for free, and Google calls this "intended behavior." Second, you actually pay them to delete it, but even if you set the slider to 7 or 14 days, the robot still recovers the .json file on Day 25. And let’s not forget that the .json is not the chat; it is not the prompt. The .json is on your Drive, while the prompt is in the backend on Google's servers. The two have nothing to do with each other, except that the .json happens to be on Drive. In the consumer version of Gemini, for example, this is hidden from you, which is why their fraud cannot be proven over there...The buttons are also lying all over the place, along with the Drive Trash, which claims that the file is deleted permanently and irretrievably. This is also a total load of crap. If something is permanently deleted, how can I recover it? xD But Google lies exactly the same way in their file recovery help article, claiming that recovering permanently deleted files happens through their "special" robot xD. You get it, the miracle robot that can bring back supposedly permanently deleted files. Which is ridiculous. If you deleted something permanently, then grammatically it means you deleted it for good, it is not recoverable. Google is scamming everyone. They lie shamelessly and just play with words.And the sickest part of it all is that they have been doing this for years. In May, they changed the text on the delete button from simply deleting the chat to what it says now. But even their phrasing is completely wrong, because the prompt itself is not deleted; only the .json file is. And that is exactly what the robot recovers. But if a file is permanently deleted according to the Drive Trash button, how on earth can I recover it? Google is just playing mind games with words. This is a hardcore, systematic deception of the public, and they are doing it for commercial profit.Do you understand how this works? According to them, this is "intended behavior" (referring to their Drive file recovery tool). But if it is intended behavior, how does that align with the fact that even if you pay for the TTL feature and set the sliders to, say, 7 or 14 days, the chat still returns because of the robot? Furthermore, the Drive file recovery tool itself is illegal because it lacks a legal basis. Google cannot just say, "Sorry, we are keeping your files so you can recover them if you want to" xD People don't click delete by accident. This is just a cheap "any excuse is better than none" argument. Google is ridiculous and entirely illogical. Their official Gemini API documentation clearly describes the TTL, which means this is now a hardcore case of commercial, corporate fraud and public deception.I am looking forward to the comments here on my post. What happened? NOTHING, because the file and the prompt were NEVER deleted in the first place! If something is genuinely, permanently deleted, by definition it is IMPOSSIBLE to restore it.

Yet, right next to it in the active file list, the exact same file is sitting there intact, active, and fully accessible in the Google AI Studio folder!
