assemble a pc. to get it decent you need at least 1.3K.

8-16 gb ram, intel i5 and up best, if youre on the lowest budget get i3 not recommended.

graphics card doesnt matter much on laptops, even if you get the best it will be underclocked by the manufacturer to save the laptop from burning from overtemperature.

Ater you should know I do NOT have 1.3k to pay up, I have a decent PC but I'd rather not change it's OS + I use it for personal use (And have done so for the past 5 years) which is why I'm tryna get a laptop instead, a laptop is also portable

Under 400-500 preferably, I'm pretty broke so I'll get a 2nd hand one

well you'd be looking at either getting an older macbook, which is quite efficient ram wise, or if you're more windows oriented, use a thinkpad.
ThinkPads tend to be pretty good at doing whichever job is required, and is also able to handle whatever you're trying to do.
i'm using both a macbook and a thinkpad, but i prefer thinkpad.
thinkpad laptops go from 400-600
that's most likely your best bet

Appreciate it bro

i suggest, if you can , 16Gb ram
32 gb it's obviousely better but i think too exepensive
for pentesting, i don't think you need a big gfx card
i5 can be ok, remember that cpu hz are similar in the i3 i5 i9
just get a good net card ( if you have wifi internet)
a sdd as main HD
and usb v.3 older are slow as a pain
ThanksĀ  @zehq for ranks!!!

echoing this. I've seen decent secondhand thinkpads even go for 200-300 on facebook marketplace. pay in cash. you don't need a lot of fancy specs to do this work.
