A codegrabber is a device that is able to intercept the signal between the command transmitting and receiving units to further hack the security system.
The main types of code grabbers:
- code grabbers for intercepting static codes
Intercepts and allows to use a signal absolutely identical to the intercepted one (so-called replay attack).
- Code-swapping devices
Not only intercept the signal, but also jam it at the same time.
The owner of the car, seeing the lack of response of the alarm system to pressing the button on the key fob, is forced to resubmit the command.
Thus, the codegrabber stores two or more signals that can be used in the future
- algorithmic code grabbers
Recognize the manufacturer and model of the car alarm system, and then, applying a certain algorithm, can use the signals as well as the regular alarm fob
