Last month the ICRC published the basic rules to follow for hacktivists/cyber volunteers when they launch their operations.

I put the list here.

• Do not target civilian objectives,
  
• Do not use malware or tools that spread automatically and which may indiscriminately damage military and civilian objectives alike,
  
• When launching a cyberattack on a military objective, avoid or minimize impact on civilians,
  
• Do not target medical and humanitarian facilities,
  
• Do not target objectives impacting the survival of the population or which may release dangerous forces,
  
• Do not make threats of violence to spread terror among the civilians,.     
  
• Do not encourage the violation of international humanitarian law,
  
• Comply with these rules even if the enemy does not.
  

I believe in these, however, I am sure the rules will be super hard to enforce as plausible deniability and anonymity would always render the perpetrators difficult to identify. Hopefully nobody is targeting hospitals with cyber operations.....

today we see that this shit is highly political and selective - governmental bodies in the west callout numerous warcrimes made by Russia when targeting civilian infrastructure but they stay quiet for Palestine

there are no rules of war, friend

and these rules on cyberwarfare invalidate the foundation of cyberwarfare

yeah I guess so... But this is very sad if you think about this. Laws of war are made to protect those who are not fighting on one of the sides taking part to a conflict. So if nobody respect those rules, those who are suffering are those who should be protected instead... which is what is actually happening right now in Gaza
