runescape and wow have been around for a long ass time, and basically the content is endless so people will always have a reason to play the game. Cod and other games alike are worse because you need a new game every year otherwise its dead

Stardew Valley. Seems like it has lots of replayability.

in 100 years probably i'd say lots of old school consoles will still have an active playerbase, consoles like NES, Snes, gamecube (especially smash melee since it seems immortal), then like lots of people were saying, many pc games are basically timeless, like doom or gta, and i'd add Assassin's Creed too into the pile, even just for the experience of going back to past times with a level of interactivity that's currently unmatched by any other media

We are in an era where a single generation of gamers has been alive long enough to keep communities in older games going strong. However, I wonder after hundreds or even thousands of years if certain video games would still be considered classics that maintain communities, sort of like how Chess has survived a long time.
What factors might be the most important to consider for the potential longevity of a community?
Have any of you found yourself getting involved in a community for a game that existed before you were born?
GTA is basically a household name at this point. I sas saying to some guys while playing warzone earlier that all the marketing for GTA 6 already is insane... I.e, the guy with the face tattoo's (the joker) I'm sure (this is my opinion) he probably has an NDA with Rockstar that was probably signed back when GTA5 got released and they got him to tattoo up, probably paying him too. Of course it's just my opinion.
So GTA will still be known about in 100 years. If you know about Chess and Draughts, GTA will be the same. Same with non-bikers knowing what a Hayabusa is

Modded Minecraft I guess,
because the community is so passionate about it
and releases a new modpack like every second.
